About Aluminium Subacetate
Aluminium subacetate is one of three aluminium acetates that are produced from the reaction between aluminium hydroxide and acetic acid. This aluminium salt exhibits basic properties.
Most of application of aluminium subacetate is in the field of pharmaceuticals and medicine because this compound could relieve human skin disease in different situations. For example, in a patient with wet injuries aluminium subacetate is applied topically in the form of wet dressing or compress to mitigate itching and irritation due to its astringent and antiseptic activity. This compound could be helpful in other case of irritation like plant-associated dermatitis, athlete’s foot syndrome, insect bite, sensitivity to detergents, cosmetics and jewellery. It is also able to alleviate swelling in the place of lesions. Aluminium subacetate is available as a topical dosage form to relieve acne, eczema, anal pruritus and diaper rash.
Aluminium subacetate, in the form of solution, is prescribed for the treatment of outer ear infections based on its antibacterial and antifungal activity. This basic aluminium compound is used as a mordant in the dyeing processes of fibers to fix the dye permanently.
